Geneva Research Lab for Digital Impact
How a Geneva research lab got the brand its research deserves
Research that reads as serious as it is.
The Geneva Research Lab for Digital Impact bridges evidence and action on connectivity and digital transformation, for policymakers, practitioners and development partners. Its output was growing faster than its identity: EWM was brought in to build the brand, the website and the publishing engine behind the research.
Deliverables
One lab, two institutions: the University of Geneva and UNICEF.
The Geneva Research Lab for Digital Impact is a joint initiative between the Geneva School of Economics and Management at the University of Geneva and UNICEF's Digital Impact Division. Three pillars, one purpose: research for impact, learning for change, and bringing stakeholders together to turn shared evidence into coordinated action.
The ask: an identity credible in both academic and institutional rooms, and the capacity to publish at a professional standard, every month.
Born between two worlds, publishing from day one.
A young lab with demanding audiences on both sides, academic and institutional, and output from the very first months: publications, events, learning resources. The work accumulated faster than the identity meant to carry it, and a landing page couldn't hold a growing research program.
The lab needed what a brand gets: an identity, guidelines, a real website, and a production line for papers, carousels and films that holds a monthly rhythm.
Identity, site, publishing engine: built in that order.
A complete identity system first: logo, palettes, typography, guidelines. Then the site on Sulu CMS, grown from a landing page into a full home: research, publications, events, the team.
And the engine: monthly white papers, carousels and microlearning videos, motion design for the lab's series, newsletters, campaigns around events. Research in, publication-grade assets out.
A lab that publishes like an institution.
From first workshops to a live site in under a year: the identity in use, pages shipping in phases through summer 2026, and a publications library that keeps growing. The lab's ideas now travel in a form equal to their substance.
