Bürgenstock

How a luxury hotel group won its guests back to direct booking

The Bürgenstock Collection embodies luxury and hospitality.

From its flagship resort above Lake Lucerne to its houses in Lausanne and Bern, the Collection's websites no longer matched the houses they represented, and direct bookings showed it. It turned to EWM to rebuild them all: four websites, one per house and one for the Collection itself.

Deliverables

The client

Three houses, one collection, one standard of Swiss luxury.

The Bürgenstock Collection spans three houses: the resort above Lake Lucerne, home to the Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa, the Waldhotel and the Residence Suites; the Royal Savoy in Lausanne; and the Schweizerhof in Bern.

Bürgenstock came to us for measurable improvements in website performance and guest engagement, on the strength of our results in hospitality: design that converts, animation that serves the story.

The challenge

Four websites to rebuild, four identities to keep distinct.

The websites had aged faster than the houses: visitors struggled to find their way, and conversion rates showed it. Navigation worked against the guest, not with them.

Direct bookings were slipping away, and revenue potential with them. The group needed websites its teams could update daily, accessible to every guest, on every device.

The solution

We rebuilt the Collection's websites around one priority: turning visitors into direct bookings.

Bespoke design in each house's own identity, custom animations that serve the story, and navigation that leads to the booking bar instead of away from it. Six months from kickoff to launch, four sites delivered: the Resort site, Royal Savoy Lausanne, Schweizerhof Bern, and the Collection's umbrella site.

Behind the scenes: an easy-to-use CMS the Bürgenstock teams update daily, accessibility built in, and a standing loop with the client's sales teams, so features and conversion tactics keep adapting to real feedback.

The results

Direct bookings up, and a partnership that kept going.

The redesign brought a significant lift in direct bookings, with measurable gains in traffic, engagement and conversion indicators, and stronger brand visibility with guests and stakeholders.

The work continues: we maintain, measure and iterate with Bürgenstock's teams as offers and seasons change. Two Awwwards recognitions later, the Collection's digital presence finally matches the place.
